Sheyda is a Master’s level student from the University of Denver and will be working with In Focus Counseling for her practicum and internship. Sheyda received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California Santa Cruz in 2017 and is now working toward her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Sheyda has previously volunteered with a crisis hotline where she gained experience providing emotional support to individuals of various backgrounds and needs. She also spent several years working in a psychophysiology research lab studying the intersections of chronic stress, health, and well-being in adults. Currently, Sheyda provides individual therapy to adults and aims to help them through a variety of issues related to social, psychological, and emotional problems. Sheyda continues to explore her theoretical orientation, though she is passionate about providing individualized, multiculturally-competent care specific to the needs of each client. She believes in building a strong, collaborative therapeutic relationship with each client through compassion, empathy, and openness to help them reach their goals and genuinely feel safe and supported. As Sheyda joined the IFC clinical team, she is trained in CBT components and specifically Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD.
