Tamika Thomas, joined In Focus Counseling as an independent contractor and a contractor who works with trauma therapy. Tamika is a Licensed Professional Counselor candidate. She works with individuals and families, young adults, and children using evidenced based approaches tailored to the unique needs of each client.
Tamika has experience working in a variety of settings with diverse clients, including both long-term and brief interventions. Her areas of expertise include trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, life stressors, OCD, relationship challenges, and adolescent challenges.
Tamika is a Registered Psychotherapist, Addiction Counselor I, and an RYT 200 certified yoga instructor in the state of Colorado. Tamika graduated from Adams State University with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health and Counseling and a B.A. in Human Services from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Tamika received her 200-hour teacher certification from Satya Yoga Collective in 2018 for People of Color. Tamika is currently an abKids educator for BhavanaKids teaching yoga and mindfulness to school-age children within the public-school system. Tamika has been in the field of substance use for many years, bringing an array of experience in working with many populations in need and with trauma therapy.
Tamika believes by creating a collaborative therapeutic relationship with clients, they can begin to discover the tools within themselves to create meaningful change. Change happens when people are given the guidance they need to compel their own strengths to realize their potential to maintain a balanced life. Tamika provides trauma therapy an environment of compassion and support to assist individuals and families to overcome challenges to move forward and thrive.
