Abbie Horn, MSW, LSW joined In Focus Counseling in January of 2021, and specializes in addressing anxiety and mood-related concerns as well as addictions and substance use in adolescents and adults.
Abbie received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Colorado Boulder in 2017 and Master of Social Work degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2020. Abbie’s clinical graduate training was focused in addictions, mood and anxiety, and women’s mental health. She utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and a strengths-based, collaborative approach with the goal of helping clients feel supported, guided, and empowered. Abbie also has experience working with clients engaging in Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid and alcohol use and can support you in navigating and utilizing these resources in the community. She is currently working towards completing her full addictions certification.
Abbie approaches therapy with an open-mindedness and acceptance for whatever situation you may have found yourself in and whatever struggle you may be facing. She believes that a strong therapeutic relationship paired with effective coping skills and therapeutic techniques can facilitate personal growth, self-awareness, improved relationships, and a more fulfilling and purposeful life overall.
